Acupuncture Services

Patricia Engelhardt, L.Ac., MSOM, Dipl. Ac. (NCCAOM)

I am a fully licensed and board-certified acupuncturist located at Chapel Hill Bodyworks Wellness Center in Johnsburg, Illinois.

Acupuncture “jump starts” the body’s innate healing capacity. Our bodies are incredible systems that can rebuild bone, muscle, tissues and nerves, and regulate hormones and brain chemistry all at the same time!

We are designed to heal ourselves. The reality of life today is that diet, lifestyle, emotions, and the influence of chemicals and toxins in commercial products and the environment all contribute to disrupting our natural healing process. We become unable to use 100% of our healing power. Acupuncture helps access more of our natural healing capacity. This is often all it takes to start the cascade of change that leads to the relief of dis-ease symptoms.

True healing must include changes to diet and lifestyle to be lasting. I can offer advice on foods to eat for your particular Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) pattern and symptoms. As Hippocrates stated, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”.

Acupuncture promotes whole-system wellness of mind, body, and soul. Are you ready to feel better? Make the decision today to improve your health. Small changes can result in long term good health and well-being for years to come.

We serve McHenry County IL including Johnsburg, McHenry, Wonder Lake, Woodstock, Richmond, Lakemoor, Spring Grove, Island Lake, Wauconda, Crystal Lake, Lake in the Hills, Algonquin, Cary, Round Lake Beach, and Fox Lake.

Think of it as a scraping therapy performed with a smooth-edged tool. Today, it has evolved from a full-body therapeutic practice into a global wellness and skincare ritual used by acupuncturists, massage therapists, estheticians, athletes, and everyday consumers.

Meridian Theory: The Ancient Map of the Body

Meridian Theory: The Ancient Map of the Body

For thousands of years, practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) have described the human body using a very different “anatomy” than modern Western medicine. Instead of nerves, vessels, and organs alone, they spoke of an energetic network or a communication system linking every structure, function, and sensation.

This network is called the meridian system. Today, interest in acupuncture, fascia

How Acupuncture Complements Sports Medicine: An Integrated Approach

Modern sports medicine has evolved far beyond rest, ice, and painkillers. Today’s athletes, both professional and recreational alike, are increasingly supported by multidisciplinary care teams that may include physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers, chiropractors, nutritionists, and mental performance coaches. Within this integrated model, acupuncture has emerged as a powerful complementary therapy, bridging ancient medical wisdom with contemporary sports science.
