After more than 30 years working and attaining extensive experience in business management for private manufacturing businesses, I decided in 2008 that I wanted to shift my career to working with people to improve their health. I’ve always been interested in holistic health and after personally experiencing the benefits of acupuncture, I decided that was the path I wanted to take.
During my five years of education at Midwest College of Oriental Medicine, I completed a 2,826-hour intensive program that included Chinese Medicine coursework which provided a solid foundation in needle technique, traditional accessory modalities, traditional herbs and formulas, nutrition and Chinese food therapy, and the Western sciences such as anatomy, physiology, neurology and pharmacology.
I am educated in Meridian and Zang-Fu based treatment styles, electro-acupuncture, Tui Na (Chinese massage) and other modalities of Chinese medicine as Accessory techniques. Major focus of education was on the “Zang-Fu” system of physiology, pathology, diagnosis, and treatment strategy. I am trained in traditional pulse and tongue diagnosis to aid in formulating a comprehensive treatment plan (current style taught today, in China, at Universities of Chinese Medicine and practiced in their affiliated teaching hospitals). My Acupuncture Internship included 660 clinic hours of intensive experience treating patients in Midwest College Clinic. I have successfully treated many pain related syndromes and rehabilitative conditions. My Herbal Internship includes an additional 260 clinic hours of herbal experience prescribing herbal formulas and nutritional advice for Midwest College Clinic patients.
In April 2014, I started working as a Teaching Assistant at Midwest College of Oriental Medicine – Racine Campus. I supervise acupuncture students in a clinical setting through all the phases of internship. The goal is to guide and prepare graduates for the demands and responsibilities of a busy practice. I also manage the clinic’s herbal dispensary.
In 2016, I opened the Art of Acupuncture Center Tranquility Center in McHenry, Illinois and on December 2017 decided to join a group of massage therapists that are as passionate about their clients as I am. Chapel Hill Bodyworks Wellness Center is located in Johnsburg, Illinois.
My mission is to assist people who want to improve their health and enjoy better quality of life. I have had experience working with a wide variety of health issues and concerns. I have successfully treated low back, neck, knee, and shoulder pain including injuries, surgeries, and auto immune disorders such as Fibromyalgia, Lyme disease, and Arthritis. Patients with chronic headaches or migraines and digestive issues such as IBS, constipation, diarrhea, and acid reflux have experience improvement with acupuncture and herbs. Emotional concerns, stress, and insomnia are commonly treated in my practice. Many people come to acupuncture regularly once they experience how it is preventative and helps with stress.
